Adequan is a polysulfated glycosaminoglycan, a medication that prevents cartilage loss and helps the body repair damaged cartilage.  Joints become painful when cartilage is lost, so preventing cartilage loss decreases arthritis pain.  Adequan is very effective in our patients with arthritis and can be combined with other treatments to increase effectiveness.  Adequan only comes as an injection and frequency of treatment is determined by your veterinarian  This medication is very safe and well tolerated by our Saint Petersburg, FL dog and cat patients.
