Form: topical liquid

4 sizes for dogs: 2-10 lb (green); 11-20 lb (teal); 21-55 lb (red); over 55 lb (blue)              

Frequency of administration: monthly in most cases, may be applied more frequently under a veterinarian's direction

Active ingredient: imidacloprid, a relative of nicotine

Mode of action: spreads throughout the skin after application and then kills fleas on contact by affecting the nervous system

Avoid swimming and bathing after application to increase effectiveness

Wait 24 hours after bathing to apply product

Adverse effects: hypersalivation if ingested orally

Contraindications: dogs less than 7 weeks of age; pregnant, nursing or very debilitated animals
