Comfortis- Flea Treatment

comfortis.gif5 sizes for dogs: 5-10 lb (pink); 10-20 lb (orange); 20-40 lb (teal); 40-60 lb (blue); 60-120 lb(brown)      

Form: chewable flavored tablets   

Frequency of administration: monthly      

Active ingredient: spinosad, a compound  naturally produced by soil bacteria      

Mode of action: binds to neurological receptors that are unique to insects and quickly causes paralysis that results in death of the flea

Adverse effects: vomiting in a small percentage of dogs that usually resolves with subsequent dosages      

Notify your veterinarian if vomiting occurs

If vomiting occurs within one hour of administering the dosage, you will need to re-dose on the following day

Contraindications: puppies less than 14 weeks of age, breeding females and dogs with epilpesy
