Heartgard Plus

3 sizes for dogs: <25 lb (blue), 26-50 lb (green), 51-100 lb (brown)

• Must be completely chewed to be effective - do not allow pet to swallow whole 

Frequency of administration: monthly

Active ingredients: ivermectin and pyrantel pamoate

Mode of action:

• Ivermectin: enhances the release of the neurotransmitter GABA leading to paralysis and death of parasites
  •  prevents heartworm disease
•  Pyrantel pamoate: blocks neuromuscular transmission in invertebrates resulting in paralysis and death of parasites
  •  prevents hookworm and roundworm infections  

Adverse effects: very rare; neurological signs in collie-related breeds, vomiting

Contraindications: puppies less than 6 weeks old; collie-related breeds use with caution
