Heartworm disease is a very serious and preventable disease in dogs and cats.   As you can see from the incidence map below, animals all across the United States and throughout Florida are at risk of contracting this deadly disease.  Preventing heartworm disease is as easy as administering a monthly heartworm preventive to you pets.   *The severity of heartworm incidence as shown in this map is based on the average number of cases per reporting clinic. Some remote regions of the United States lack veterinary clinics, therefore we have no reported cases from these areas- American Heartworm Society.
