Travelling
with your pet can make a good vacation great. Preparation is key to
stress-free pet travel. Make sure you discuss travel plans with your
veterinarian prior to your trip. Travel to certain areas may increase
your pet's risk of contracting diseases not usually seen in Florida,
and we can advise you on preventive measures prior to travel to keep
your pet safe. Depending on how well your pet travels, a light
sedative may be needed to reduce stress. If your plans include flying,
make sure you have an interstate health certificate issued for your pet
to prevent hassels at the airport. For travel outside of the
continental United States, there are very specific guidelines, forms,
testing and treatment that may be required up to 6 months before the
date of travel. If you are planning a trip with your pet outside the
continental United States, contact our office immediately to allow us
to adequately prepare your pet and prevent travel delays. You can also visit Air Animal for online information.
